April 26, 2010 SAN DIEGO , CA - Aimed at simplifying and
improving the productivity of aerial mapping operations, Applanix introduced
today software version
3.0 for POSTrack™, its industry-leading Direct Georeferencing
and Flight Management System. In order to perform efficient and accurate mapping over rapidly changing terrain, especially mountainous and coastline areas, software version 3.0 for POSTrack incorporates a worldwide ASTER digital elevation model (DEM) product for flight planning. The DEM is used to automatically and quickly determine the optimal flight path to fly an aircraft to best meet the acquisition requirements of photo scale, ground sample distance and image overlap, ensuring that the highest quality map products are produced from each and every flight. Using the DEM and real-time position and orientation information computed from the tightly-integrated POS AV GNSS-inertial system, software version 3.0 for POSTrack also automates the manual tasks of an aerial survey mission to include:
“The improved logistics, simplicity of use and accuracy using version 3.0 for POSTrack with DEM support greatly increases the productivity of aerial mapping” said Joe Hutton, Director of Airborne Products at Applanix. “Applanix remains committed to being a leading provider of productivity tools for aerial mapping, and the latest version of POSTrack once again demonstrates this.” In addition to the DEM support, version 3.0 for POSTrack also includes productivity enhancements such as the ability to import background maps from Google Earth, and to export flight plans and actual coverage flown as KML files. Software version 3.0 for POSTrack is available today through the Applanix sales network. For more information about the system, visit http://www.applanix.com/airborne/postrack.html
